Kenya: NCA Sets Up Eleven Offices in Counties

Posted on : Friday , 30th October 2015

The National Construction Authority has established 11 satellite offices countrywide to effectively deliver services.

NCA executive director Daniel Manduku said the regional offices will ease pressure in the Nairobi office.

The new offices are in Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret, Kitui, Nyeri, Isiolo, Garissa, Kakamega and Kisii counties will serve the areas around them.

Speaking during a stakeholders meeting at the NCA office in Nairobi on Saturday, Manduku said the offices will make independent decisions.

He said the offices have employed ICT staff to register contractors and projects, issue compliance certificates as well as engage in quality site inspection.

The director said NCA is working with other agencies to uplift the quality of artisans in Kenya and create employment in the construction sector.

"There is an acute shortage of trained artisans in Kenya. That is why we have carried out more than 15 contractor and construction workers training in different parts of the nation to equip artisans with technical skills and certification," Manduku said.

He said more than 16,000 business owners and workers have been trained to prepare them for public sector assignments and higher vocational education.

Manduku said some of the NCA certified artisans have secured government contracts.
